The Norfolk Terrier is one of the smallest working terriers, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in spunk and personality. Originating from England, these scrappy little dogs were bred to hunt rats and other vermin, often working in packs — so they’re both brave and sociable.
They have a compact, sturdy build with a wiry coat and signature folded (or “dropped”) ears, which sets them apart from their cousin, the Norwich Terrier. Norfolk Terriers are affectionate, curious, and always ready to explore — but they’re also known to be quite cuddly once they’re done with their mischief.
Despite their adorable looks, they’re no lapdog pushover — they’ve got a true terrier tenacity and will dig, chase, and bark if not properly trained. But with the right care, they make loyal and lively companions in both city and country homes.
