The Havanese is a small, cheerful companion dog known for its luxurious silky coat, expressive eyes, and friendly personality. Originally from Cuba, this breed was a favorite among aristocrats in Havana — hence the name — and was bred purely for companionship.

They’re incredibly social, thriving on human interaction and often shadowing their owners from room to room like adorable, fuzzy stalkers. Havanese dogs are playful, intelligent, and easy to train, making them excellent family pets, therapy dogs, or even little entertainers in canine sports.

Despite their glam looks, they’re pretty adaptable — happy in apartments or houses, as long as they’re not left alone for too long. Bonus: they don’t shed much, but their long coat does need regular grooming unless you go for a low-maintenance puppy cut. Either way, they’ll charm your socks off.
